The FAA says its Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program reached a medical-transport milestone with a flight test across Virginia and Maryland. The agency described the test as part of advanced-air-mobility work, with partners including BETA Technologies, United Therapeutics, PennDOT, and other participants named in the FAA release.
What happened
According to the FAA, the test used BETA's ALIA aircraft to demonstrate medical-transport capabilities in a real-world corridor. For Drone Home readers, the useful point is not that small-drone rules changed. The useful point is that aviation agencies and operators are testing new air-mobility use cases under formal programs and public-agency oversight.
